Italy - Ducati Motor Holding S.p.A. said net result for the first quarter ended March 31 was a profit of Euro 1.5 million, up from a loss of Euro 2.6 million in the first quarter of 2005. First quarter revenue was Euro 78.2 million, down 4.5% from Euro 81.9 million in the same period in 2005. Motorcycle revenue was Euro 60.2 million, down 8.6% compared to the same period last year, and accounted for 77.0% of total revenues. Revenue from motorcycle related products - including spare parts, accessories and apparel - was Euro 16.9 million, up 9.9% compared to the first quarter of 2005.
Ducati sold 7,337 units during the three-month period; the company said unofficial registrations were up 3.3% on the same period of last year. Registrations were up 30% to 640 units in Japan, 19% to 1,670 units in the U.S., and 18% to 1,473 units in non-subsidiary countries. In Europe, registrations were up 3% in Germany, down 3% in France, down 6% in Italy, 25% in Benelux and 32% in the UK.
